Dog Breed of the Week: Mutt
<p><a href="http://dogs.about.com/od/dogbreeds/qt/joyofmutts.htm"><img class="alignnone" src="http://0.tqn.com/d/dogs/1/3/s/-/0/-/mix-StellaBella-JanrBuckle2.jpg" border="0" alt="Picture of Mixed Breed Dog - Cute Mutt Photo" align="right" /></a></p>
<p>Though the mutt is not technically a dog breed, mixed-breed dogs definitely have their place as the "breed" of the week. After all, they are no less deserving of the spotlight than purebred dogs. Many of the dogs in shelters are mutts, so adopting one is a great way to help dogs in need. <p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/28/dog-breed-of-the-week-mutt.htm">Read Full Post</a></p><p style="background:#f5f3ef;border: 1px solid #d5d0bf;clear:both;padding:.5em;"><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/28/dog-breed-of-the-week-mutt.htm">Dog Breed of the Week: Mutt</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/">About.com Dogs</a> on Wednesday, July 28th, 2010 at 21:07:18.</p><p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/28/dog-breed-of-the-week-mutt.htm">Permalink</a> | <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/28/dog-breed-of-the-week-mutt.htm#gB3">Comment</a> | <a href="http://dogs.about.com/gi/pages/shareurl.htm?PG=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/28/dog-breed-of-the-week-mutt.htm&zItl=Dog Breed of the Week: Mutt">Email this</a></p>

Help - My Dog Bit Someone!
<p>Most domesticated dogs generally get along well with people. After all, they are pets that have evolved with humans for hundreds of years or more. This may be part of the reason many owners underestimate their dogs. When it comes down to it, dogs are animals with sharp teeth that can truly injure another person. A dog may bite a person for a variety of reasons. She might sense a threat and feel the need to protect the home and/or family. She may be frightened by something and become defensive. Perhaps she has a behavior problem. She could even be in pain and/or injured. Regardless of the reason, a dog bite is a serious situation that can be overwhelming for all parties involved. <p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/20/help-my-dog-bit-someone.htm">Read Full Post</a></p><p style="background:#f5f3ef;border: 1px solid #d5d0bf;clear:both;padding:.5em;"><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/20/help-my-dog-bit-someone.htm">Help - My Dog Bit Someone!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/">About.com Dogs</a> on Tuesday, July 20th, 2010 at 23:51:23.</p><p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/20/help-my-dog-bit-someone.htm">Permalink</a> | <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/20/help-my-dog-bit-someone.htm#gB3">Comment</a> | <a href="http://dogs.about.com/gi/pages/shareurl.htm?PG=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/20/help-my-dog-bit-someone.htm&zItl=Help - My Dog Bit Someone!">Email this</a></p>
How to Find a Lost Dog
<p>Lost dog signs can be seen everywhere you go, and listings for missing pets are all over the internet and in newspapers. If you are like me, the thought of losing your dog makes your heart drop to your stomach. In fact, I did lose a dog once. She discovered a weak spot in a friend\'s fence and wandered away. Fortunately, she was found quickly by a kind soul who saw her crossing the street. I was very lucky, but it was the longest 24 hours of my life.</p>
<p>As a dog owner, one of the most frightening things that can happen is the disappearance of your beloved dog. <p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/15/how-to-find-a-lost-dog.htm">Read Full Post</a></p><p style="background:#f5f3ef;border: 1px solid #d5d0bf;clear:both;padding:.5em;"><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/15/how-to-find-a-lost-dog.htm">How to Find a Lost Dog</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/">About.com Dogs</a> on Thursday, July 15th, 2010 at 00:30:54.</p><p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/15/how-to-find-a-lost-dog.htm">Permalink</a> | <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/15/how-to-find-a-lost-dog.htm#gB3">Comment</a> | <a href="http://dogs.about.com/gi/pages/shareurl.htm?PG=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/15/how-to-find-a-lost-dog.htm&zItl=How to Find a Lost Dog">Email this</a></p>

Does a Dry Nose Mean a Dog is Sick?
<p><img class="alignnone" src="http://0.tqn.com/d/dogs/1/3/2/3/0/-/golden_face_MartinHarvey_Getty.jpg" alt="golden retriever face nose" align="right" /></p>
<p>I got a frantic call from a family friend today. Her dog has not been feeling well for the last day or two. After telling me about his lethargy and nausea, she adds "but his nose is cold and wet, so I don\'t know if there is even anything to worry about." Maybe there is something to worry about and maybe there isn\'t, but the dog\'s nose is not the issue here. In reality, the dog nose theory is just a myth. Ah, if only it were that easy to tell if a dog is sick. A dog\'s nose does not necessarily have anything to do with health. Still, dog owners everywhere have heard this old wives\' tale and wonder if they should be checking their dogs\' noses whenever they seem "off." Actually, it\'s more important to look at the dog\'s signs and symptoms. So, I told my friend she should probably have the vet take a look just in case, no matter how her dog\'s nose feels. <p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/13/does-a-dry-nose-mean-a-dog-is-sick.htm">Read Full Post</a></p><p style="background:#f5f3ef;border: 1px solid #d5d0bf;clear:both;padding:.5em;"><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/13/does-a-dry-nose-mean-a-dog-is-sick.htm">Does a Dry Nose Mean a Dog is Sick?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/">About.com Dogs</a> on Tuesday, July 13th, 2010 at 23:37:15.</p><p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/13/does-a-dry-nose-mean-a-dog-is-sick.htm">Permalink</a> | <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/13/does-a-dry-nose-mean-a-dog-is-sick.htm#gB3">Comment</a> | <a href="http://dogs.about.com/gi/pages/shareurl.htm?PG=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/13/does-a-dry-nose-mean-a-dog-is-sick.htm&zItl=Does a Dry Nose Mean a Dog is Sick?">Email this</a></p>
Dog Breed of the Week: Great Dane
<p><a href="http://dogs.about.com/od/dogbreedprofiles/p/greatdane.htm"><img class="alignnone" src="http://0.tqn.com/d/dogs/1/3/Z/3/0/-/greatdane-crop-Laertes-flickr.jpg" border="0" alt="great dane dog breed" align="right" /></a></p>
<p>I have always been enamored by the Great Dane. One might argue that this huge and majestic creature more closely resembles a small horse than a dog. Either way, the beautiful Great Dane is sure to stand out in a crowd. But it is more than looks that makes this breed stand out. The personality of the Great Dane is unforgettable. These dogs are gentle, playful, friendly and incredibly loyal. When Danes are young and not fully trained, they may not know their size and strength. However, with age and proper training, they usually become gentle giants. <p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/07/dog-breed-of-the-week-great-dane-2.htm">Read Full Post</a></p><p style="background:#f5f3ef;border: 1px solid #d5d0bf;clear:both;padding:.5em;"><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/07/dog-breed-of-the-week-great-dane-2.htm">Dog Breed of the Week: Great Dane</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/">About.com Dogs</a> on Wednesday, July 7th, 2010 at 21:31:51.</p><p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/07/dog-breed-of-the-week-great-dane-2.htm">Permalink</a> | <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/07/dog-breed-of-the-week-great-dane-2.htm#gB3">Comment</a> | <a href="http://dogs.about.com/gi/pages/shareurl.htm?PG=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/07/dog-breed-of-the-week-great-dane-2.htm&zItl=Dog Breed of the Week: Great Dane">Email this</a></p>
Dog-Friendly Product Review: Panasonic JetSpin Cyclone Vacuum

<p>I hate vacuuming. You may have heard me mention it before, because I feel strongly about it. So, when Panasonic let me know about their new pet-friendly vacuum my first reaction was to sigh and think "do I really want to vacuum?" My second thought was "Panasonic makes vacuums?" Indeed they do. Since most of us pet owners need to vacuum frequently (my pets shed like it\'s going out of style), I decided to go ahead and check out their JetSpin Cyclone Pet-Friendly Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner. <p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/07/dog-friendly-product-review-panasonic-jetspin-cyclone-vacuum.htm">Read Full Post</a></p><p style="background:#f5f3ef;border: 1px solid #d5d0bf;clear:both;padding:.5em;"><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/07/dog-friendly-product-review-panasonic-jetspin-cyclone-vacuum.htm">Dog-Friendly Product Review: Panasonic JetSpin Cyclone Vacuum</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/">About.com Dogs</a> on Wednesday, July 7th, 2010 at 21:31:11.</p><p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/07/dog-friendly-product-review-panasonic-jetspin-cyclone-vacuum.htm">Permalink</a> | <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/07/dog-friendly-product-review-panasonic-jetspin-cyclone-vacuum.htm#gB3">Comment</a> | <a href="http://dogs.about.com/gi/pages/shareurl.htm?PG=http://dogs.about.com/b/2010/07/07/dog-friendly-product-review-panasonic-jetspin-cyclone-vacuum.htm&zItl=Dog-Friendly Product Review: Panasonic JetSpin Cyclone Vacuum">Email this</a></p>

<p>Some dogs are braver than others, but even a highly confident dog may be afraid of something. Your dog does not necessarily have to be a generally timid and fearful dog to develop a specific phobia. The fireworks this past weekend may have revealed to you that your dog has a noise phobia, but there are a number of other <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://dogs.about.com/od/dogbehaviorproblems/tp/Top-Ten-Common-Dog-Fears-And-Phobias.htm">common sources of fear</a> in dogs. </p>
